Abstract
This research is part of the popular education studies and was developed in the Research Line: Reading, Education, Teaching of Mother Tongue and Natural Sciences of the Postgraduate studies Program in Education- PPGEDUC. The study introduced a problem: How can the Culture Circle contribute to the analysis and understanding of the pedagogical practice of literacy teachers in multigrade classes at rural schools in Corrente-PI? The general objective was to analyze the teachers' reports about teach literacy practices in multiseries classes in rural schools, shared in the Culture Circle. The investigation was accomplished with four literacy teachers from multigrade classes in the municipality of Corrente-PI through meetings held in Circle Culture. Schools with multigrade classes are identified by having a single teacher and students with different grades, age, sex, concerns and mastery of skills gathered in the same classroom. The Circle Culture, developed by Paulo Freire, favors dialogue in a democratic and liberating vision, proposing dialogue from a real context. The development of this research took place through a qualitative approach and the reports were analyzed through speech analysis. The Circle Culture was developed with teachers who teach in four schools in rural, located in different locations with different experience. Four meetings were held, built from the main generating theme, the literacy experiences in multigrade classes, which were divided into guide questions for the Circle Culture giving space to the narratives of literacy teachers. The narratives allowed us to understand the methodological strategies used by the teachers in the literacy process that, despite the reported difficulties, showed the ways to overcome such difficulties.
