Abstract

The present study aims to investigate and understand the gypsy culture in the educational context through a bibliographic survey, considering the time from 2006 to 2020. The development of such investigation starts from the incipient existence of studies focused on the theme about the nomadic community in the school context. Because it is a minority group, it is historically a segregated public, which, in order to be included in public policy mobilization agendas to expand its social guarantees, is faced with a latent need to expand these discussions, from the perspective of the human rights. This qualitative research was developed from a bibliographic investigation with a time frame from 2006 to 2020, reinforcing that 24th of May is celebrated as National Day of Gypsies, this date was decreed by the former president of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in 2006, which is a great milestone for the community and, taking into account given the official recognition and important of gypsy groups and culture in the construction of our country’s identity and it used as a database the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) and the Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo). The research results indicate that it is possible to understand the gypsy culture in the educational context, even in an incipient way, from the research already carried out on the educational object, even in an incipient way, from the research already carried out on the aforementioned object. However, there is a lack of in-depth studies of Gypsy students in the school context, which may refer to the possible difficulty of accessing this public, for the development of more targeted investigations.
