Abstract
The research started from the initial hypothesis that
the institutional configuration of the Catalan Primary Teacher Training Center
(CFPPC) would have in the internal experience devices that generate civilizing
processes, such as standardization of postures, rituals, routines, norms, reflected in
the "learning to do, doing". Such devices would have possible inspirations and
influences of principles of the New School, as well as the approach with adapted
forms of technicality applied at the time of the military government. Inserted in the
Emergency Program for the training of lay teachers, with repercussions on
disciplinary and pedagogical behavior, among other aspects, the formative project
would be the bearer of civilizing devices, through various standardizations, with strict
rules and norms. The study delimited as object: norms, standardized routines and
standards of civility in the formative processes, with emphasis on how they would
have been materialized in the institution. It had as a guiding question: which norms,
standardized routines and acts instituted in the CFPPC (1964-1982), configured
devices of civility? The time frame from 1964, beginning of operation, with the
closure in 1982. The general objective is to understand the civilizing devices in the
CFPCC, perceived in routines, rules and acts of civility. The specific objectives are:
to contextualize the CFPCC, the formative project inserted in the History of
Education in Brazil and in Goiás; to identify the empirical and theoretical categories
that configured the civilizing processes and the standardized institutional experience
in the formative space; understand and conceptualize the standards, norms, rules,
routines and civilizing devices applied in the institution. Sources from the collection
of the Center for Study and Research in Education of Catalão (NEPEDUCA) were
analyzed; transcriptions of narratives produced within the scope of the Living
Memory Project (2008-2009), as well as in the diary book records produced by
students of the institution. It is a research with documentary sources and
bibliographic reference, supported by research on the CFPCC. The theoretical
foundation on norms, rules, standards and civilizing process, was based on the
concepts of Norbert Elias, Cíntia Veiga, among other authors who thematize such
processes and standards in the context of the modern school. As for the results, the
research points out in the sources evidence of the disciplinary character, rigor in the
application and collection of rules, rigidity in the schedules, standardization of rites,
norms that They disciplined individual and collective behavior, participation in
various tasks, social posture, ways of dressing and behaving in internal and external
events. It is also observed the conformation of the bodies in habits, behaviors and
postures typical of the civilized individual, whose professional performance should
reflect the transformations operationalized in and by the institution. The evidence of
a centralized model, with high control of the actions of educational agents. An
institutional standard advocated both by the training project and by the internal
management profile, conducted by a manager who prevailed in the position
throughout the time of institutional existence. The actions allowed by the contribution
of resources, coming from international financing, with the participation of the state
and municipality, projected the discourse of good results in the training of lay
teachers who, after certificates, would be inserted in education, with reference and
distinction. The study provided the opportunity to gather data, produce new sources
through the consultation of the collection documents, bringing new perspectives to
the object, while opening possibilities for new studies, with deepening of the
analyses about the training of lay teachers in Brazil and Goiás, in the second half of
the twentieth century.
