O Ginásio de Goiatuba: criação e institucionalização do ensino secundário 1956 a 1964

Abstract

This research is part of the Postgraduate Program in Education at the Federal University of Catalão, of the Research Line on Educational Policies, History of Education and (Auto)biographical Research and is based on documentary and bibliographical research, which was used to obtain the answers and understand the historical process of the History of Education in Goiatuba. Its object of study is the Ginásio de Goiatuba, which was the first institution in the municipality to offer secondary edu- cation. In 1956, the city's merchants planned to create a gym in Goiatuba, so they set up a Foundation, which was the first supporting body, and looked for subsidies to build the gym. In 1958, the National Education Campaign arrived in the municipality and the Foundation, faced with the difficulties it was facing, transferred its responsibility to it and only then did the Goiatuba Gymnasium materialize. The time frame of the research is the period from 1956 to 1964. The problem consists of the follow- ing question: How did the institutionalization of the Ginásio de Goiatuba occur between the years 1956 and 1964? The general objective of the work is to understand the historical process of the creation and institutionalization of the Ginásio de Goiatuba between the years 1956 and 1964. In this sense, the investigation had as its category the principles of the history of educational institutions, which researches what happens in its interior. Through the documents, we aim to reconstruct aspects of the history of the Goiatuba Gymnasium.
