A mulher e a educação no estado de Goiás: representações na revista de educação (1937-1944)

Abstract

The research analyzes the representation of women in Brazilian education, specifically in Goiás, through the Goiás Education Journal between the decades of 1937 and 1944. It is a documentary study Resumo: Resumo em língua estrangeira: aimed at understanding how the Goiás Education Journal reflected the social and educational norms of the time, highlighting the role of women in society and the educational context. The theoretical- methodological approach is guided by the contributions of New History. A selection of articles from the journal depicting women or femininity was conducted. Subsequently, a Content Analysis of the representations of women during the specified period was carried out. Thus, this research sought a historical analysis, based on the period from 1937 to 1944, emphasizing the political, social, and economic context, educational norms, and family structure prevalent in Brazilian society and Goiás during that time. It also described the representation of women in Brazilian society and Goiás, the social roles they performed, their workplaces, and, in particular, their participation in the educational context from 1937 to 1944. Finally, we present a representative analysis of women in education during this historical period, using the Goiás Education Journal as a research instrument, which served as printed material in the 20th century to convey the realities experienced in the social and educational context of that time.
