Resumo
The present study aimed to promote a reflection about a theory that would make it possible to
develop analyzes of the functionality of the prison systems so that a theoretical model capable of
understanding what these systems would be chiseled and interventions and adjustments of varying
sizes could be carried out, proposing measures capable of rendering the most diverse activities
carried out within the penitentiary system more effective. The final objective was the verification
of the possible applicability and appropriateness of the behaviourist theory of behavioral analysis
developed by WATSON and disseminated by SKINNER, as well as the concept of a socially
specialized social system of the law advocated by AGUIAR in organizations that have a social
group of limited and closed context, as is the case of prisons and, in particular, prisons covered by
the Goian prison system. In the course of the development of the studies, we examined the most
diverse organizational forms and structures with their respective functionalities, promoted na
analysis of the behaviourist theory of the behavioral analysis, comparing it with the theory of the
behavioral analysis of the right, of the current situation of the Brazilian prison system and its
functionality in accordance with the Law on Criminal Executions, and then the organizational
structure of the Goian penitentiary system was described, adding historical events and statistical
data, and in the end it was verified the existence of a theoretical model of pragmatic vision that
allows to observe the prison units as units of analysis, with the application of the concept of
institutional organizations to the referred system and with the adaptation of behavioral theory of
the behavioral analysis to the prisons of Goiás as functionally specialized social systems that have
social groups of deleted and closed.
