Operações urbanas e reestruturação dos espaços públicos de lazer em Catalão (GO) de 2017 a 2023

Abstract

This master's research is built around the analysis of the reproduction of urban space as a condition, means and product of the realization of capitalist society, so the proposal is to analyze urban operations as a state instrument of urban change, a way in which The State uses its power to adapt the city to new capitalist needs and the restructuring/requalification of the squares in a way that changes the urban form and the conception of leisure, mainly for the working class. The work is conceived through the analysis of an urban operation that targets the public squares of the city of Catalão (GO), a series of reforms in the city squares that reproduce scenographic spaces with diverse elements that create an anthropic nature, however when talks about trees the squares lack species that produce shade. The spaces are geared towards consumption, through urban marketing to promote political figures and even the city, seeking to attract new investments. Everyday uses are neglected while aesthetic spaces are reproduced, but which are segregationist. In this sense, the general objective of the research is to understand the reproduction/renovation, the use and appropriation of squares in the city of Catalão - GO, while the specific objectives are, to understand the spatial reproduction through the contradiction of use-exchange; analyze the restructuring of squares in the city of Catalão as the reproduction of a global logic of Urban Operations; interpret transformations that occurred in the squares of Catalão. For this, a methodology divided into parts was chosen, with the first being the study of literature around the theme of the right to the city and urban reproduction, in authors such as Lefebvre (1991), Carlos (2007;2014; 2017) Corrêa (1994), Harvey (2014) and others; the second step raising secondary data, followed by fieldwork with cataloging the squares, finally the analysis and synthesis of these data. So far, it is visible that the urban space is being restructured to offer better conditions for the accumulation of capital, and with that life is placed at the service of production, but in everyday life groups that live on the margins create strategies to re-signify these spaces and meet their real needs. So that leisure becomes a moment of consumption and local squares consumables and to consume, with that, everyday life becomes controlled, people segregated from the squares seek to build strategies to build uses and appropriations seeking to break with the control of their life caused by the submission of social spheres to the capitalist system.
