Abstract
The aim of this work is to analyze the discursive functioning of professional coaching in the constitution of practices of subjectivation of the working subject that aim to capture them to meet the purposes of the economic market. The problem we sought to investigate was: how does the discourse of professional coaching work in the constitution of forms of subjectivation that capture the worker to meet the objectives of the economic market? And how do their statements act in guiding the conduct and counter-conduct of these subjects? We use archaeogenealogy, a Foucauldian Discourse Analysis method, as a theoretical-methodological path. Starting from this theoretical-methodological path, we identified that, in Brazil after the 2016 coup, the strengthening of neoliberal rationality, mainly from changes in labor legislation, gave conditions of possibility for the existence and dissemination, in a more comprehensive way, of professional coaching speech. Using concepts such as subject, knowledge, power and regimes of truth, based on Foucault's work, we seek to understand how coaching acts as a regime of truth on the worker. The notion of a security device and minority also supported our analyses. The corpus was chosen based on clippings from coaching websites and social networks. It is worth highlighting the lecture/video, taken from YouTube, by coach Paulo Vieira, used as material in the chapter that we intended more specifically for analysis. The thesis we intend to demonstrate is that the discourse of professional coaching acts as a practice of subjectivation that seeks to capture the worker so that he obeys the neoliberal command of self- entrepreneurship. The professional coaching discourse that we analyze in this work works by marking the subject positions of the discourse: the coach, who has the truth about the other, and the coachee, the one who is lost in search of someone to tell him what to do. Thus assuming the position of power to guide their interlocutors on how they should act, using strategies of security and minority devices to conduct their conduct, coaching discourses aim to direct their listeners towards forms of dependence and obedience. Through discursive mechanisms and devices, professional coaching works in favor of the market, sequestering subjectivities so that subjects are docile and useful. However, in the same space where this discourse that aims to capture obedient subjects operates, counter-conduct discourses operate, revealing pockets of resistance and glimpsing another experience, through which the subject can make their own choices and, based on a care of which is not selfish, but rather an ethical obligation to oneself and the community, may disobey.
