Abstract

This thesis explores the discourse of feminejo as a historical, social and political practice that both traverses and is traversed by interests and powers. Through an analysis carried out by using the theoretical-methodological instruments of Foucauldian Discourse Studies, it is discussed the rising of feminejo not only as a musical genre within sertanejo music, but also as an object of promotion for the music industry, which appropriates itself of the discourse of empowerment as an agenda for gender equality in order to gain visibility and, as a result, profit. The feminejo, emerged in 2015, as a response to the commercial saturation of sertanejo universitário, allows us to describe it as discursive events, whose lines of visibilities have been directed to a limited group of singers, such as Marília Mendonça, Naiara Azevedo, Simone and Simaria and Maiara and Maraisa. The thesis examines how the discourse of feminejo is taken up by neoliberal reason for meeting, reusing and transforming the demands of feminism, implying the constitution of female subjectivities in society. The cartography of the dispersion of statements about feminejo, which emerged in lyrics, on streaming platforms, on social networks and in the media in general, analyzed as a discourse support, they show us the positions that female subjects hold in a network of power relations, capture, ephemerality and contradiction when subjected to an analysis regarding the performance of neoliberal reason. In summary, this thesis proposes an archaeogenealogical view of feminejo discourses, by demonstrating how they are constituted by a multiplicity of practices and confrontations, reflecting the complexity of power-knowledge relations and subjectivity in contemporary times. Feminejo is presented not only as a cultural and musical phenomenon, but also as a discursive event that reflects the dynamic between female empowerment and the neoliberal structure of the market.
