Resumo

The motivating factors for this work where originated from the need to explore new methodo- logies in the fractions teaching through virtual environments. Due to the social isolation need imposed by the Covid-19 global pandemic, an alternative to presencial education was required and the use of remote technologies proved to be a viable solution to the challenge. The purpose of this study was to verify the learning of fractions by 6th grade students of elementary school through didactic sequences implementation in Virtual Learning Environments and using Geo- Gebra. In this context, bibliographic research were made for the elaboration of activities that sought to investigate the learning in the fractions field in order to guarantee the effective skills acquisition proposed in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), by 6th grade students of a municipal school in Uberlândia city. The activities developed were remotely applied using the online version of the GeoGebra software and the apps available on Google Workspace for Education, in the classes schedules which the researcher taught online Mathematics classes in the 2020 school year and during the Covid-19 pandemic, in which remote learning was adopted as an alternative to maintaining teaching-learning activities. The quality of the material prepared by the researcher and the interaction between teacher and student with the objects of knowledge that were studied were relevant in this process. The data collection methodology was based on the application of activities that explored the studied content and the subsequently analysis of the students results during the learning process, where the effectiveness of using the GeoGebra software in the teaching of fractions was investigated as well as virtual environments learning. In the data acquisition process, the instruments were used: diagnostic activity, logbook, GeoGebra files generated during classes and participant’s restricted virtual spaces records. The analysis categories were built from the data collected throughout the investigation process. All data construction process was performed preserving the research participants integrity. The research sought to investigate whether it would be possible to facilitate the teaching of fractions through a virtual environment with the help of the Geogebra software and guarantee the skills proposed by the BNCC for the 6th grade students of elementary school. Acknowledges that the GeoGebra software was a facilitating tool in the building and obtaining process of the skills that should be developed and acquired by those students, mainly because it is a software that enable visual exploration and study of the knowledge objects that have been investigated.
