Abstract
High Blood Pressure (HBP) is on the rise all over the world, being considered an important public health problem. It is a chronic disease, that has complex characteristics in its management and, therefore, requires continuous care. Objective: Trace the sociodemographic profile of users assisted at the Catalão Emergency Unit (UPA), GO with classification 110, primary HBP, in CID 10. Method: Descriptive, quantitative study, carried out through access to the medical records of hypertensive users attended at the UPA in 2019 and 2020, totaling a number of 1943 users. Results: There was a higher prevalence of hypertension in females when compared to males, both in young women and in elderly women: ≤ 60 years: 51.8% and 60 years: 54% versus: ≤ 60 years: 48, 2% and 60 years: 46%) respectively; on the other hand, males had higher median blood pressure levels when compared to females: (140/81mmHg versus 142/88 mmHg) respectively. the median BP was 141, with a 25th percentile of 129, which shows that 75% of the population has systolic pressure (SP) above 129mmHg and 25% of the population has a BP above 160mmHg, when analyzing the 75th percentile. analyzing the PD, the median was 85, with a 25th percentile of 76, which shows that 75% of the population has systolic pressure (SP) above 76mmHg and 25% of the population has a BP above 98mmHg, when analyzing the 75th percentile. Conclusion: The care of cases of hypertension in the unit showed a growth trend in 2019, in 2020 it grew again after the start of the pandemic, which denotes that strategic actions need to be established. The implementation of IT as a public policy is involved in the challenge of transforming ideas and data into actions and results.
