Resumo

The research in question analyzes the process of figuration of the character Macabéa of clarice lispector's the hour of the star (1977), evidencing the narrative resources listed by the writer, especially the mechanisms of silence, as well as the unfolding of these aspects in refigurations of this character to promote its survival. From this perspective, an analysis of the character's refigurations will be performed in the recreations of the following authors: Suzana Amaral, homonymous adaptation of 1985; Vera Duarte, short story The redemption (2012); Conceição Evaristo, short story Macabéa, the Flower of Mulungu (2012); Jorge Furtado and Regina Casé, Open Scene (2003). With regard to the refiguration of Macabéa undertaken from the transcoding of semiotic systems, attention will be paid to suzana Amaral's homonymous adaptation, aiming at the analysis of the intersemiotic translation process performed by the filmmaker. As a theoretical contribution, with regard to the category of character, will contribute the works of Antônio Candido (1976), Beth Brait (1985), Fernando Segolin (1999) and Carlos Reis (2015). With regard to studies on cinema, adaptation and intersemiotic translation will be used mainly the studies of Robert Stam (2006, 2008), Ismail Xavier (2003), João Batista Brito (2006) and Thaïs Flores Nogueira Diniz (1999, 2005). As for studies on the work of Clarice Lispector, Benedito Nunes (1989), Olga de Sá (1979; 1993) and Nádia Battella Gotlib (2001; 2017) will contribute. Thus, from the studies on character, and on silence as an aesthetic resource, in addition to lessons on cinema and intersemiotic translation, we will trace an analytical path about the character Macabéa, from its constitution in clarice's work to its reinventions in recreations to ensure the survival of this character and promote dialogue between readings of different sociocultural contexts.
