Juventudes e pré-vestibulares populares como território de democratização da educação: o olhar de jovens participantes do Afin/Ituiutaba-MG

Abstract

By transcending this reductionist view of youth that has been seen as common sense, this study considers the contemporary sociological bias, which sees youth in their plurality. A group that is constituted by its diversity marked by different social axes reflected in the experiences of each person. These experiences are consolidated in the territories they occupy, in the opportunities they have to build, rebuild, and develop as political-social beings. Considering the reality of young people from the popular classes in Brazil, specifically in this work, in the Triângulo Mineiro, about their educational experiences that support entry into Higher Education and the thinking about their life projects, we aim to understand the performance pre-popular entrance exam as a territory for democratizing access to education for young people from the popular classes. To answer the following question: “How do young people who graduated from a popular pre-university course report the experiences made possible in the popular pre-university exam for entry into Higher Education?”, we have theoretical studies based on authors such as Oscar Dávilla Léon (2005), Juarez Dayrell (2003), Antônio Groppo (2022), Clóves Alexandre Castro (2005), Lajara Janaina Lopes Corrêa (2011), Adriano Rodrigues De La Fuente (2019) , Paulo Freire (1967 and 2001), Larrosa Bndía (2022), Victor Hugo Nedel and Miriam Pires Corrêa de Lacerda (2008), Victor Hugo Nedel de Oliveira and Leonardo Brião de Oliveira (2022), Maria Zenaide Alves and Igor Oliveira (2014 ) and Maria Zenaide Alves and Juarez Dayrell (2015) and Geraldo Leão, Juarez Dayrell and Juliana Reis (2011) and documents such as the Youth Statute (2013). This is a qualitative research with two main instruments for data production: a questionnaire to characterize the young people and an interview with a semi-structured script, to analyze the reports of young people who graduated from a popular pre-university exam located in the city of Ituiutaba-MG, the Afin/Ituiutaba pre-university exam. From the perspective of the young people who completed the course, it was possible to see that it ensures a territory for the democratization of education and, through its methodology supported by the principles of popular education, provides unique experiences that contribute to young people coming to those from public schools or scholarship holders from private schools build and reconstruct the knowledge necessary for entry into Higher Education, this being a historically elite territory, and that they think about or rethink more possibilities for designing their futures. Thus, they broaden their horizons and move towards emancipation and social transformation.
