Interdiscursividade literária nas letras dos Engenheiros do Hawaii

Abstract

Discourse Analysis is a subject formulated in the articulation between the subject and his or her language use in the history. In this research, the proposal is to observe the interdiscourse relations between the lyrics of the songs Infinita highway and Dom Quixote and the literary works On the road and Dom Quixote de La Mancha. When we look from an interdiscoursive perspective to the lyrics chosen to compose the corpus, it is possible to observe how they integrate as part of the scenary from which a subject speaks in a certain position and how they bring resonances of discourses which compose the romances On the road and Dom Quixote. To accomplish the analysis goals, having as the main theoretical support Michel Pêcheux’s work, a conceptual review is carried out in the part considered relevant to the proposed analysis, which regards the concept review as the discourse, the interdiscourse and the subject, as well as others to which they integrate, bringing the contributions from other authors, like Michel Foucault and Michel de Certeau. Lastly, the established relations between the lyrics of the songs and the romances are presented, moment in which we discuss how the so-called beat generation is present in Infinita highway by the proximity of the freedom discourse that is reported in On the road, how the road is created in the sense of representing the own existence and how to break the rules and not to obey the plates portrays the pursuit of the subject for itself, for its completeness. Departing to the lyric Dom Quixote, it can be found a ressignification of the Cervantes’ character in the romance, being in Humberto Gessinger’s lyrics the representation of someone who swims against the tide, who does not give up even when certain values seem to be completely lost. It is associated to this lyric the historicity to which it belongs, after all in the early 2000s, when the song was recorded, Engenheiros was a reminiscence of rock bands that almost did not exist anymore. Thus, in memory nets that lead the statements, pruduce them and ressignify them, the song lyrics analyzed bring with themselves the social-historical-ideological mark of the subject who states them and they are part of a history and of discourses that must be analyzed by the concerns they provoke.
