Resumo

This study aimed to verify the quality of life related to the workers’ health from an automobile industry. To this end, we analyzed the individual characteristics and the incidence of chronic diseases among workers enrolled in the Disease Management Program as well as identified in which areas of the instrument Short Form - 36 (SF-36) were interfering in the quality of life of workers. This was a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional research. Held in a large automobile industry in the Midwest region of the country and with the participation of 43 workers of various industry segments, diagnosed with hypertension, dyslipidemia and diabetes mellitus, who participated in the “Viva Saúde” Program. The research results were that, of the 43 workers interviewed, the distribution regarding gender was 33 male with 76.7% and 10 female, with 23.3%. The married marital status was reported by 39 workers (90.7%), whereas 4 answered that were singles (9.4%). In relation to age, the average was 40.79 years with standard deviation of 10.23 years. There was a prevalence of hypertension (74.4%), followed by hypertension associated with dyslipidemia (11.6%), diabetes mellitus (9.3%), cardiovascular disease, hypertension associated with diabetes mellitus showed the same values (2.3%). Concerning the evaluation of quality of life related to health (SF-36), the highest average score obtained in the field was Physical Aspects (average: 92.44), followed by Emotional Aspects (Average: 89.92) , Functional Capacity (average: 87.79), Social Aspects (Average: 87.5) and Mental Health (average: 80.09). On the other hand, the Pain dominion showed average 71.14, while Vitality obtained 70.7, indicating moderate values. Already the General State of Health (average: 63.19) came to a worse score. Data analysis has highlighted that morbidity hypertension was more frequent in men, married and aged between 25 and 34 years old, with limitation in the field Vitality, demonstrating that chronic diseases bring about reduced quality of life. In this study, the SF-36 proved to be a reliable instrument and the quality of life of workers checked had scores indicating positive perception of this construct.
