As conquistas e os desafios femininos na engenharia civil - 2014 a 2023

Abstract

This a research Project developed in the Postgraduate Program in History, Professional Master's Degree, of the Federal University of Catalão (UFCAT). The objective is to reflect on some challenges that mark the female presence in the Civil Engineering course and in the career. The intention is to analyze some aspects, as well as to dialogue with the daily challenges experienced by female engineers. The central proposal of the research is to report that, despite prejudices and historical and social challenges, female engineers seem to seek ways to practice the profession, in search of their goals and dreams. Methodologically, we sought student data, about the enrollment and dropout of male and female students, dialogue with reports about different female engineers, problematizing historical and social aspects to better understand some elements that mark the challenge of being an engineer, besides seeking to understand the incentives and public policies being implemented to achieve the promotion of gender equity. The various analyses allowed us to affirm that the presence of men is still greater in the field of engineering. However, at no point does this scenario nullify the participation of women in this area, as their achievements, persistence in their studies, and struggles in society and the profession can be highlighted.
