Abstract

This study investigates the approach to indignous themes in the teaching of History, focusing on the challenges and progress in implementing Law No. 11,645/2008 to promote the decolonization of knowledge. By analyzing the historical context of the legislation's development, the significant contributions of Black and indigenous movements are highlighted. The study examines formal school documents such as the Political-Pedagogical Project (PPP), School Regulations, and the role of textbooks in Brazilian high schools, particularly their alignment with current educational norms, especially Law No. 11,645/2008. It is observed that gaps remain in adapting these materials to provide education that adequately values indigenous cultures. Furthermore, anti- colonial approaches to teaching indigenous themes are explored, proposing the use of indigenous- authored sources that acknowledge and value the agency of these peoples. The objective of this study is to provide knowledge and develop interdisciplinary didactic material in the form of workshop classes based on indigenous sources, aiming to enrich the study of History in high school from a perspective that celebrates cultural diversity and Indigenous traditional knowledge, thereby reducing stereotypes produced in the educational context, specifically in high school at the Colégio Estadual da Polícia Militar de Goiás José Pio de Santana in Ipameri.
