Abstract
With the emergence of global epidemics, such as the dengue outbreak and the pandemic caused by Covid-19, there is a need to understand how infectious diseases spread. See- king greater similarity with real connections and contacts between human beings, complex network models that are commonly used to describe and represent real connections and re- lationships were analyzed. Therefore, the present work aims to understand the spread of epi- demics through Small World (SW) type networks. For this, the SIR compartment model (Sus- ceptible - Infected - Withdrawn) was used as the dynamics of stochastic interaction between the network nodes. The simulations were carried out in the Python programming language, more specifically with the EoN (Epidemics on Network) package, which works with simula- tions of epidemics in networks. To analyze the behavior of the epidemic on the network, a statistical probability was applied to measure the infection time. An approximation using the mean field model was also carried out, which proved to be effective in denser networks.
