Resumo

Current researches show that space is related to the experiences of the characters and has many functions within the narrative. According to Borges Filho‘s Topoanalisys, published during 2007, space is a net of relations between the place and is connected to action involving specific aspects and/or psychological, as well as economic, social and political aspects of the narrative. From this perspective, we seek to embed your configuration, demonstrating that the spatiality in Pão Cozido Debaixo de Brasa of writer Miguel Jorge, is the basis on which this work is built. This book embraces two diegesis compositions, ranging weaving while they develop. We found individual questions about the formation of self, and the external context, the social criticism. In the middle of all of that, this literary work recounts the tragedy of Cesium-137, having taken place in the metropolitan city of Goiânia during1987, and, besides representing the blend of Literature and History, it still offers fantastic elements of Christianity, Paganism, and Mythology intertwined in a worthy effort to gain the reader‘s attention. Our analyzes left us with perspectives on the representation of space in the work of fiction, compelling us to use theories by Borges Filho, as well as Bachelard, Lins, Candido. Also, taking into account the of use concepts of urban complexity offered by Cordeiro, Certeau, Williams. Additional research provided by Halbwachs, Zinani, Gagnebin, Woodward, Hall on Memory and Identity, which were the basis for our reflections. From this theoretical contribution, our analysis primarily turn about the housing, your setting up and its symbolic value within the narrative. In the second chapter, we read and understand the personified city and crossing, which is recurrent and exposed in the streets. This setting is where it happens, the coming and going, where the characters tread for their journey, searching for the best place and formation of their identities. Note, that as a character, the city asks, pointing and constraining, social and intimate problems expressed in the work. During the third chapter, we learn that, similar in its configuration and representation, the city is the same in both stories and is responsible for establishing the connection between them. In addition, we point out that Pão Cozido Debaixo de Brasa consists of a structure that does not follow the conventional methods, weaved with a poetic language together with the spatial lexicon that are intrinsic within all narrative structures. The narrator offers an universe whose characteristics reflect the real world, blending them with fantastic elements. Concluding that Miguel Jorge‘s narrative art is built on the importance of space for the experiences of his characters, linking the elements of Memory and Identity.
