Investigando o ensino de geometria na educação de jovens e adultos: um estudo de caso com alunos e professores

This work aims to investigate and analyze the conceptions and pedagogical practices of mathematics teachers who work specifically in the modality of Youth and Adult Education (EJA), in the third segment, in relation to the teaching of Geometry. It aims to investigate and analyze how content is delivered in practice, identify difficulties in the teaching-learning process, available teaching resources and teachers' perceptions regarding the modality. In addition to research work through activities developed in the classroom, a new approach was suggested and carried out for the administration of the classes of Flat Geometry such as the use of manipulative material, working basic concepts and the composition of geometric figures. The fieldwork was developed in a school in the South Environment Region of Brasília. Questionnaires were applied to the teachers of this school and to two other schools in the region that also work with the modality, in order to observe the teaching practices regarding Geometry teaching. Three questionnaires were also distributed to the students: the Sociocultural, the Diagnosis and the Project Evaluation. Data were collected through these questionnaires, activities and observations, accompanied by a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the results that were presented in the form of graphs and tables. An intervention project was also carried out where the geometry contents were worked with the help of Tangram. The lectures were given based on the pieces that constitute it. Parallel to the lectures, practical activities were carried out together with the Art Education classes, where the students made the Tangrans in large size, which were later presented in the workshops. At the end it was verified after all the investigation, that there really is a deficiency in the teaching of geometry in the EJA, and according to the students the implantation of the intervention project was valid and profitable in the assimilation of the contents, since they studied the content in a way alternative, acquired a broader view of their social and economic realities, had the opportunity to work with cross-cutting themes and associate the content studied with other areas of knowledge, so that the activities developed were considered a good alternative for the lectures.
