Abstract
This study aims to reflect on the educational context of Brazil through a historical analysis of the various reforms and changes that have occurred from its Jesuit origins to the present day. The general objective of the research is to list the main challenges and advancements that Brazilian education has experienced or undergone, including public policies, educational management mechanisms, and considering a model of innovative school practices (the case of Sobral, Ceará). The methodology employed was a bibliographic research, which conducted a literature review of content related to the topic, with the aim of building the theoretical framework of the study. This framework will collect, analyze, and record information or arguments from works and authors who address the subject, such as Freire, Gadotti, Saviani, Romanelli, Brasil, Santos, Gentili, Freitas, Cruz and Loureiro, INEP, Macnaught, Alves et al., Luckesi, Sumya et al., Torres, among others, using books, articles, and sources from CAPES, Scielo, Google Scholar, among some published and available on virtual networks, as the database. Among the various results found, the study highlights the need to understand the historical inequalities of Brazilian society and to maintain a continuous commitment to social justice and the democratization of education in the country, understanding education as a universal right, and therefore, a constant struggle against neoliberalism.
