Abstract
In the midst of water scarcity crises and rising residential electricity costs, it is essential to seek more efficient construction methods from a thermo-energy point of view to improve the thermal performance of housing. In this sense, this research evaluated the thermal performance of a residential building built with monolithic EPS panels covered by steel mesh and mortar in different Brazilian Bioclimatic Zones, according to the ABNT NBR 15.575:2021 standard. Through computer simulations with Open Studio V 3.1.1 and Energy Plus R 9.4, the results showed that constructions in monolithic EPS panels achieved all the requirements and criteria established by the standard for the superior level of thermal performance in all eight Brazilian Bioclimatic Zones, generating more efficient, economical and sustainable buildings. The study analyzed electricity savings in different cities considering the average tariff in the red band 1. Curitiba had the highest savings, followed by other cities with smaller reductions. Energy efficiency strategies can generate savings and cost reduction in regions with higher tariffs.
