Resumo

The lexicon is our vocabulary heritage and it is constantly changing. Therefore, the effective lexicon teaching is very important, since we use our lexical skills to perform basic and complex activities, such as reading, understanding, speaking and writing. That said, this dissertation aims to contribute to the lexical expansion of eighth and ninth grade students of Elementary School, by conducting a playful pedagogical workshop, considering the hypothesis that playful lexical activities provide a more effective teaching of the lexicon. Thus, we elaborated the activities to compose the workshop, based on what national official documents guide us, such as the National Curriculum Parameters and the Common National Curriculum Base, this level of education, and the discussions undertaken by authors of the lexicon, such as Biderman (2001), Dias (2004 ), Antunes (2012), Ilari (1997), Coelho (2005), Liska (2017), among others. After the workshop, we proceeded to the systematization and analysis of the collected data, noticing the lexical expansion of the participants and pointing out how playfulness contributed to this. We noted the need to encourage the ongoing training of teachers and other education professionals, as well as their professional appreciation in society. Finally, we emphasize the importance of research on the teaching of the lexicon so that the skills of reading, understanding, speaking and writing are enhanced.
