Análise dos hinos de Frida Vingren a partir do sistema de Avaliatividade

Abstract

In the evangelical scenario, the hymns represent a form of worship to God, which has its characteristics personified in the songs. The hymns express the ideology and guide the Protestant evangelical religious practices, integrating the lives of thousands of people who find in these songs the expressiveness of their Christian identity. These songs reflect the musical language, customs, beliefs, culture, and values belonging to their faithful. The language evaluated in these hymns is related to the religious discourse, which is the one that makes the voice of God or his envoys heard, which is the main characteristic of this discourse. This research, inserted in the Postgraduate Program in Language Studies (PPGEL) of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), in the Catalão Regional Office, had the objective of evaluating excerpts from 20 hymns of the Christian Harp written by Frida Vingren, by means of lexical-grammatical elements, in order to contribute to the studies of Systemic-Functional Linguistics using the system of Evaluativity (HALLIDAY and MARTIN, 2005). In the evaluation, we specifically considered the Attitude subsystem and its subcategories categorized as Affect, Judgment, and Appreciation, since it precisely addresses the lexical- grammatical choices of individuals, and it is understood that it is possible to carry out the evaluations about emotions, character, and behavior of individuals. In addition to the theory used for this evaluation, the computer program WordSmith Tools 7.0 was employed for the identification and contextualization of the lexical-grammatical elements of Attitude present in the corpus, evaluated in three semantic macro categories: 1) The relationship and representation with the Divine; 2) Rules of conduct in daily life; and 3) The projection of life beyond the grave. Through the results achieved and the theoretical-methodological references, the subcategory Affect was predominantly found with the subtypes Happiness and Positive Security when compared to the other subtypes.
