dc.description.abstractThe sugarcane activity, present in our Nation since the colonial period, appears as an alternative to the occupation of the Brazilian territory. The cultivation of sugar cane introduced in the captaincy of São Vicente (SP), finds better conditions in the Northeast, a pioneer region in this production, as well as sugar. And it maintained its hegemony until the middle of the twentieth century, precisely until the period of World War II, when, due to problems in the transportation of sugar, production is directed to the South of Brazil. From there, the State of São Paulo takes the lead in this economic activity. In the 1970s, the first oil crisis occurred on a global scale and some countries created alternatives regarding dependence on this energy source. In Brazil, the National Alcohol Program (PROÁLCOOL) is created and the incentives and credits subsidized by the State facilitate the sugarcane expansion by several states of the Federation, including Minas Gerais, in the Mesoregion of the Triângulo Mineiro. This fact causes many spatial transformations. Thus, this research arises from the need to understand such transformations occurred in Frutal (MG), due to the territorialization of the sugar-energy sector from 2007. We know that the territory is the essential concept in the interpretation of these dynamics, because, from the power relations exercised by the diversity of actors and interests, it is possible, on a micro or macro scale, to build and / or rebuild. And to understand the changes that occurred in Frutal (MG), several themes are sources of study: sugar cane in the formation of the Brazilian territory; policies and programs for this activity; the technical-scientific environment; the modernization of agriculture and the appropriation of the Cerrado. Many documents of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) are also sources of study and analysis, especially in the years 1970, 1980, 1990, 2001, 2010 and 2012. And during the walk, to better understand the new profile of said Municipality , we have interviews, observations and photographic records. Thus, this dissertation presents five sections, in addition to the introduction and the final considerations, to contemplate the proposed objectives on the factors most responsible for the spatial transformations occurring in Frutal (MG) from the territorialisation of the sugarcane plants.eng
dc.description.resumoA atividade canavieira, presente em nossa Nação desde o período colonial, surge como alternativa à ocupação do território brasileiro. O cultivo da cana de açúcar introduzida na capitania de São Vicente (SP), encontra melhores condições no Nordeste, região pioneira nesta produção, bem como na de açúcar. E ali mantém sua hegemonia até meados do século XX, precisamente até o período da Segunda Guerra Mundial, quando, por problemas no transporte do açúcar, a produção é direcionada para o Sul do Brasil. A partir daí, o Estado de São Paulo assume a liderança nessa atividade econômica. Na década de 1970, acontece a primeira crise do petróleo em escala mundial e alguns países criam alternativas referentes a dependência dessa fonte energética. No Brasil criase o Programa Nacional do Álcool (PROÁLCOOL) e os incentivos e créditos subsidiados pelo Estado facilitam a expansão canavieira por vários estados da Federação, inclusive Minas Gerais, na Mesorregião do Triângulo Mineiro. Este fato provoca muitas transformações espaciais. Assim, esta pesquisa surge da necessidade de compreender tais transformações ocorridas em Frutal (MG), devido a territorialização do setor sucroenergético a partir de 2007. Sabemos que o território é o conceito essencial na interpretação dessas dinâmicas, pois, a partir das relações de poder exercidas pela diversidade de atores e interesses, é possível, em escala micro ou macro, construir e/ou reconstruir. E para compreender as mudanças ocorridas em Frutal (MG), vários temas são fontes de estudo: a cana de açúcar na formação do território brasileiro; políticas e programas públicos destinados a essa atividade; o meio técnico-científico; a modernização da agricultura e a apropriação do Cerrado. Muitos documentos do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatísticas (IBGE) são também fontes de estudo e análise, especialmente dos anos de 1970, 1980, 1990, 2001, 2010 e 2012. E durante a caminhada, para melhor compreensão do novo perfil do referido Município, contamos com entrevistas, observações e registros fotográficos. Assim, esta dissertação apresenta cinco seções, além da introdução e das considerações finais, para contemplar os objetivos propostos sobre os fatores mais responsáveis pelas transformações espaciais ocorridas em Frutal (MG) a partir da territorialização das Usinas sucroenergéticas.eng
