Throughout the ages, the production systems used in the automotive vehicles industry has continuously improved and has directly impacted the competitiveness of organizations. This dissertation refers to the analysis and application of principles and tools of production system known as LeanManufacturing to identify and reduce the waste that affect production costs and increase production capacity in a automobile company. The main objective of this work was through the implementation of applied research in a case study develop a scientificmethod that could bring a competitive gain for the organization studied. The application of the proposed method was performed on a production line planned to begin the production of a new product platformand was necessary to know the available production capacity. After themethod application was noted that the available capacity in the researched production line was lower than the necessary capacity to produce the new model and after the improvements implementation was possible to reduce significantly the waste in the line and increase production capacity by 121%.
